My friends are planning on going to Joseph and Independence with us to Walk Across Joseph and then swim and play in Wallowa Lake on July 31 and August 1. Joseph and Wallowa Lake are the location where part of the book, The Shack, is set. I took the above picture of my daughter in Pioneer Square in Portland in June. We will Walk there on August 23, 2009.

Where Have All the Good Writers Gone?

I spoke with Kay Ebling of the City of Angels Blog yesterday. She was feeling pain. Voice of the Faithful raised $60,000 in one week to keep their headquarters open. Kay is struggling without health insurance and declining health. She found it painful that people donate so readily to Voice of the Faithful but so few donate to her to help her keep going. Kay tells the stories about abuse that no one else is willing to tell. It is not that Voice of the Faithful is not a worthy cause, but Kay is a worthy cause too. Can we support Kay and the City of Angels Blog too?

Today I called Safe Harbors in Joseph and spoke with Gretchen. We talked about the Walk Across Oregon. She is very sympathetic and supportive. I hope supporters from Safe Harbors will join us in Joseph. Safe Harbors. Safe Harbors advocates for domestic abuse and rape trauma survivors.
