Compassionate Gatherings

Come, we want to meet you and listen to you too.  You are an important and valuable member of the community.

Take a class or workshop to improve your Compassionate Listening skills.  This will help you too in your relationships with family and friends and at work.

Bring snacks to a Compassionate Gathering.  Elizabeth says that eating together is a sacramental activity.  In other words, it builds community relationships and helps healing.  Plus, we get hungry after four hours of sitting together.

Walk Across Oregon

Walk with us on the Walk Across Oregon -- five steps, five minutes or five miles.

Buy a Walk Across Oregon t-shirt for $25 to help advertise and fund the Walk.

(contact Virginia Jones at compassion500@gmail.com or 503-866-6163.

Bring snacks and water to a Walk Across Oregon meeting site during the Walk Across Oregon.

Bring yourself to the Walk Across Oregon meeting site.  We love meeting our supporters.

Provide a meeting place for Walkers on the Walk Across Oregon so we can teach members of the community how to listen compassionately to abuse survivors and help survivors on the journey to healing.

Provide overnight accommodations to Walkers on the Walk Across Oregon.  We aren’t picky.  We can put a sleeping bag on a floor or in a back yard.

If you live in or near Portland you can provide a venue for clergy abuse survivor Olan Horne to speak about his experiences confronting Cardinal Law and meeting Pope Benedict XVI.

If you live in Portland you can host clergy abuse survivor Olan Horne for breakfast or dinner on August 20, 21, 0r 22.

Sack Cloth Penance Patch

Advocate in your church or parish for the Sack Cloth Penance Patch.  Approach your pastor and interest lay people.

Make Patches.  We start the day after Easter and work all year, but you can start anytime.

Wear a Patch to show survivors of abuse that you are sorry for their suffering and recognize your responsibility to be part of the healing process.

Donate brown burlap, safety pins, brown ribbon and clear duct tape to help make Patches.

Or, for a small donation, we can send you a kit or a ready-made Patch.  Contact Virginia Jones at compassion500@gmail.com.

Abuse Surveys

Fill a survey out for your self or for a loved one who has been abused, but please note that we don’t know who you are.  If you want to hear from us you have to provide contact information.

Thank you!  We are very grateful for your support.
